Mack Scholars

Mackintosh Academy Boulder Mack Scholars Program

In 2015/16 Mack Boulder received a $1.5 million grant from a family foundation to start our Mack Scholars Program aimed at providing ten students full financial support to attend Mack Boulder through 8th grade.

The idea for Mack Scholars germinated years ago through meaningful conversations in our community while exploring ways to expand our school’s reach to a historically unrepresented group of children. Contrary to popular belief, research shows that the largest percentage of gifted learners is likely living below the poverty line. These learners are often under-identified and under-served as schools struggle to offer the depth, pace, and support that help gifted learners reach full potential. Mack Scholars opened doors to the large pool of gifted children in our community that now have access to a Mack Boulder education.

There are upwards of 5000 children surviving but not thriving in Boulder schools alone as schools struggle to offer the depth, pace, challenges, and support that helps gifted learners reach their full potential. Mack Scholars opened doors to the large pool of gifted children in our community that now have access to a Mack Boulder education.

The program is already changing lives forever. Our ten Scholars are exemplary students in their respective grades. Our Scholar families have leaned into our community and campus in immeasurable ways – they are often the first to jump into service days and the last to leave. Watching our Scholars thrive daily at Mack fills teachers with pride and hope – and a strong desire to protect the scholarships forever.

Mackintosh Academy Boulder Mack Scholars Program

Mack Scholars was structured to be a yearly cash gift to support the ten scholarship seats. Currently our Scholars are spread out from 3rd grade to 8th with the majority anchoring the lower grades. Our overarching goal is to build endowed funds to support all ten seats in perpetuity.

With our first Scholar graduating this year we need to start raising funds immediately. If we can continue the momentum for scholarship support through The Quantum Campaign, the number of students we can impact and the diversity of our school will grow exponentially.
