A “Radical Rethink” of Our Education System
Sir Kenneth Robinson on breaking out of industrialized education
This is a favorite piece of education inspiration at Mackintosh Academy. We like to think that Mackintosh offers an education that would make Sir Kenneth Robinson proud. In this powerful TED Talk, creativity expert Sir Kenneth Robinson champions a “radical rethink” of our education system to promote multiple intelligence and help each child tap into their personal gifts. Our children need to be prepared for “the future that we can’t grasp.” And quotes Picasso, “Every child is an artist. The trouble is remaining one when you grow up.” His belief in the extraordinary abilities and immense talent of every child suggest a need for a totally new paradigm in education. See this additional talk by Sir Kenneth Robinson for more on his shot over the bow of the industrialized education system.
Here’s to innovation, not just in education but in our view of children themselves!
