To begin their nature unit, 2nd graders each started a daily nature journal where they record their observations. Their journals include notes, poems, making maps of places in nature, drawing objects in nature and jotting down measurements, colors, labels etc. Students studied nature objects using analog and digital microscopes. Close up images from the digital microscope inspired 2nd graders to further study the nuances of objects and make beautiful paintings of the details they observed.
